Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has become the first Asian to notch up 900 dismissals in first-class cricket.

According to details, Akmal achieved the milestone during Central Punjab’s match against Sindh at the Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium in the fifth round of ongoing Quaid-e-Azam (QeA) Trophy tournament.

The 37-year-old took eight catches during the match and took his tally of dismissals to 906 in a total of 240 first-class outings.

Earlier, he had also become the only Asian wicketkeeper-batsman to score 31 centuries in first-class cricket, while playing for Central Punjab against Northern, in the second round of QeA Trophy.

Despite being out of the Pakistan side since 2017, Akmal, in a recent interview with Cricket Pakistan, vowed to continue playing till he was in from and fully fit.

“I will continue to play until and unless my form deserts me and I’m no longer fit enough to play,” said Akmal. “The example of Younis Khan and Misbahul Haq is infront of us as they contributed for Pakistan despite being in their late 30s and early 40s.”
