Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won a thrilling contest against Northern after a super over finish in the second semi-final on Saturday at the State Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Chasing a target of 304 runs, KP looked set to get over the line, courtesy a brilliant century by Sahibzada Farhan, but good death overs bowling by Northern’s pacers ensured that the match ended in a tie after 50 overs.

Farhan scored 132 runs off 144 balls with the help of 17 fours and two sixes.

KP scored 15 runs in the super over, which proved too much for Northen as pacer Imran Khan bagged two wickets and led his team to victory.

Earlier, batting first, Northern posted 303/8 in their allotted 50 overs with the help of fifties by Haider Ali, Rohail Nazir and Hammad Azam.

Azam top-scored with 94 runs off just 63 balls, while Haider and Rohail accumulated 65 and 57 runs, respectively.

KP will now face Central Punjab in the final, at the State Bank Stadium in Karachi, on Sunday, January 31.

It must be noted that Central Punjab produced a dominant performance to defeat Sindh by 127 runs in the first semi-final of the Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament, at the State Bank Stadium on Friday.
