In order to circumvent the hassle of providing security and traffic control for foreign players in Lahore, an initial amount of Rs 30 million has been released for the construction of a five-star hotel, comprising of 1000 rooms, at the LCCA ground.

The LCCA ground, located next to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, will no longer feature matches but will be the venue for a public-private partnership.

Director General (DG) Sports Board Adnan Arshad expressed hope that the project would be completed quickly and would provide relief for the people of Lahore during matches.

“After the construction of the hotel, when the four doors of Nishtar park are closed during matches, the people of the city will not face any issues. We want to rid Lahore of these problems. All foreign players, including cricketers, will reside in this hotel during their stay in Lahore. After the initial grant, we will start working on the hiring of advisors and other basic necessities of the project. We are hopeful that the paperwork will be completed by September or October,” Arshad said.

The LCCA ground started hosting matches in 1980. The sports board has now taken the ground under its jurisdiction.

Admin Sports Board Javed Chohan revealed that the hotel would provide the best international-level facilities.

“LCCA ground would provide the basis for a magnificent hotel which will provide relief for the people of Lahore during events such as the PSL or other fixtures. The hotel will feature facilities such as a swimming pool, parking lot along with all other international-level facilities. The cricket board will use this facility the most and normal people can use the facilities when matches are not being played. We will be constructing a tall building so that we can maximise the use of the space we have while the beauty of the ground will also be maintained,” Chohan said.
