LHC dismisses plea against Sethi's disqualification

Court announces the decision against plea filed by a cricket fan Farzana Kausar

LHC dismisses plea against Sethi's disqualification

Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed a plea filed against the qualification of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi on Tuesday.

A cricket fan — Farzana Kausar — filed a petition where she maintained that as per the Pakistan's constitution, a person above 60 is ineligible to hold any designation because of which Sethi was ineligible to contest as the PCB chairman in 2016.

However, the court maintained that since the federal government does not take part in board’s administrative matters, and with no age limitation in the laws of the board, Sethi’s election was deemed on merit.

The decision also highlighted that the petitioner, whose only qualification for filing the plea against the PCB chairman was being a cricket fan, was deemed inadequate.
