Daniel Christian and Umar Siddiq starred as Multan Sultans comfortably defeated Islamabad United by six wickets, in match 16 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season four in Dubai on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest total of 122 runs, Sultans got off to a flyer courtesy of 54-run opening stand between James Vince and Umar Siddiq. Vince departed after scoring 25 while Siddiq scored 46 runs.
Skipper Shoaib Malik played an unbeaten knock of 23 runs to see Sultans over the winning line.
Rumman Raees, Mohammad Musa, Shadab Khan and Samit Patel claimed a wicket each for the losing side.
Earlier the defending champions were bowled out for 121 runs in 17.4 overs, courtesy Christian's brilliant bowling spell. He claimed three wickets for 19 runs in his 1.4 overs.
Luke Ronchi got himself going but was caught in the deep by Malik. He scored 32. Meanwhile, Asif Ali played a cameo of 22 runs while. Patel scored 20 to guide the total to 121 runs.
Mohammad Ilyas, Shahid Afridi, and Nauman Ali claimed two wickets each for Sultans.
