The legendary player and former Test captain, Javed Miandad, has expressed dissatisfaction with the appointment of young coaches for the national team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Mohammad Hafeez as the team director, who will also take on the role of head coach for the national team during their tour of Australia.

Furthermore, Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have been assigned the positions of fast-bowling coach and spin bowling coach, respectively.

While speaking to media on Tuesday in Karachi, Miandad stated that there should be a significant age difference between coaches and players, emphasizing that without a difference in age, there won't be any respect.

"There should be a significant age difference between coaches and players. If there is no age gap, players will not respect the coach," Miandad said.

"Those who doesn't understand cricket removed Babar Azam from captaincy," he further added.

The 66 year-old believed that Sarfaraz Ahmed’s prior captaincy experience can be more vital for the upcoming Australian tour which will be rather challenging.

"Sarfaraz Ahmed should not only be included in the team against Australia, but due to his experience, he should have been the captain," Miandad remarked.

Miandad further argued that appointing foreign coaches for the national team is an insult to senior cricketers.
