Former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq has shared his insights on Pakistan's opening combination for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the USA and West Indies next month.

In a recent interview with a sports channel, Misbah suggested that the ideal opening pair should consist of a right-left combination to maximize the team's effectiveness.

The former captain noted that current opener Saim Ayub is facing challenges in delivering consistent performances.

He proposed a different approach, advocating for a pairing where Saim Ayub could be complemented by either Babar Azam or Mohammad Rizwan on the other end.

“I feel that the best opening combination, looking at the team, would be a right-left combination. That would be ideal. They are currently playing Saim Ayub, who is not delivering at the moment. I feel that different kinds of players – Saim on one end and Babar or Rizwan on the other end – can complement each other well,” Misbah said.

Pakistan's World Cup journey begins in Dallas, where they will take on co-host USA on June 6, followed by matches against India on June 9 and Canada on June 12 in New York. Their final league match against Ireland is slated for June 16 in Florida.

Pakistan T20 World Cup schedule:

  • Pakistan vs USA on June 6 (Dallas)
  • India vs Pakistan on June 9 (New York)
  • Pakistan vs Canada on June 11 (New York)
  • Pakistan vs Ireland on June 16 (Lauderhill)
