Former Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, is set to propose four potential candidates for the crucial position of chief selector for the national men's cricket team.
According to sources, Misbah, who was recently appointed as an advisor to Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf, has carefully selected a list of former cricketers, including Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohammad Wasim, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Azhar Ali, to be considered for the role of chief selector.
The appointment of the chief selector holds significant importance, as it will directly impact the composition of the squads for both the upcoming Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup 2023. Hence, the announcement of these squads will be made only after the new chief selector has been finalized.
Misbah’s appointment as an advisor is an honorary role, meaning that he will not be receiving any remuneration for his services. Despite being offered a full-time position within the board, Misbah declined the offer due to his prior commitments.
Instead, Misbah has chosen to support the chairman by offering his invaluable experience and insights, particularly concerning domestic cricket. Misbah has already taken the initiative to convene a meeting with Ashraf today, to discuss and address concerns related to the structure of the domestic cricket circuit.
