Fast bowler Mohamed Shiraz has been included in the Sri Lanka squad for the upcoming ODI series against India as an injury cover for Matheesha Pathirana.

Shiraz, who has yet to make his international debut, is currently playing in the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament for the Burgher Recreation Club. He recently delivered a standout performance by taking 6-21 against the Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club, marking his best List A bowling figures to date.

With a total of 47 List A matches under his belt, Shiraz has claimed 80 wickets at an impressive average of 17.52. The 29-year-old also has experience in 49 first-class matches and 23 T20 games within Sri Lanka's domestic cricket circuit.

The first ODI of the three-match series between Sri Lanka and India will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, August 2.

The same venue will host the second and third ODIs on August 4 and August 7, respectively.

Sri Lanka will aim to bounce back after losing the T20I series 0-3 to the world champions India at the Pallekele International Stadium earlier this week.
