Mohammad Amir cleared for England travel, set to depart on Friday

Fast-bowler Mohammad Amir and masseur Mohammad Imran will travel to England on Friday morning after their second Covid-19 tests returned negative, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced today.

As per the revised Covid-19 regulations, Imran is categorised as a low risk after having recovered from the virus and, as such, will be integrated with the national side after one negative test, whereas Amir will remain in self-isolation until he returns two negative tests.

Earlier, the PCB had confirmed that Amir will join the Pakistan men’s national cricket team in England following the birth of his second daughter last week.

The decision was taken after rookie pacer Haris Rauf, who was also part of Pakistan squad, repeatedly tested positive for the virus and was unable to travel to England.  

Furthermore, and on the request of the team management, the PCB has also agreed to send Mohammad Imran, a masseur at the National High Performance Centre, to England.

As soon as Amir will join the squad, reserve wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir will be released from his duties.

Old Trafford will host the first Test of the series starting on Wednesday August 5. The final two Tests will be played at the Rose Bowl from Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 21.

The three T20Is will take place at Old Trafford on Friday, August 28, Sunday, August 30 and the final match of the tour on Tuesday, September 1.
