Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has voiced his support for the Indian cricket team and its players after they were racially abused on social media following their poor performances in the T20 World Cup.

After yesterday's defeat against New Zealand, India's hopes for qualification to the next stage have taken a major blow. The team's performance on the field has remained largely disappointing which has seen a lot of abuse hurled at the Indian cricket team, its management, and its players.

The most prominent example was Mohammad Shami, who after the defeat against Pakistan, was racially abused on social platforms and was labeled a traitor due to his Muslim heritage.

Many pundits, players - including Indian skipper Virat Kohli - condemned this abuse and voiced their support for Mohammad Shami and all the other players who were being targeted.

Left-arm pacer Amir, who recently had a spat with former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh - kept aside the differences and showed his support for the players being abused.

"Abusing players and their family is such a shame. Don't forget, end of the day it's just a game of cricket," Amir wrote on Twitter.

I still believe India is a best team its just a matter of having good time or bad time but abusing player's and their family is such a shame don't forget end of the day it's just a game of cricket.
