Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Nawaz didn't mince his words when discussing his views on fellow cricketer Imad Wasim during a media address on Tuesday.

Responding to a question about whether he feels fortunate now that Imad has retired from international cricket, Nawaz openly expressed his thoughts on the dynamic opinions surrounding players.

Nawaz highlighted the paradoxical nature of public perception, stating that a player who is out of the team often garners admiration from fans.

"Player who's out of the team is admired by people mostly and when the same player joins the team but is not able to perform in one or two matches, then he is not liked by the same lot of people,” Nawaz said.

Nawaz, who made his debut back in 2016, talked about the unpredictable nature of team selection, especially in comparison to Imad.

"I made my debut in 2016, sometimes Imad bhai plays, sometimes I do. And also this isn't someone's personal team, whoever performs, will continue to play," he added.

Expressing his excitement for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Nawaz also addressed his shift to the Karachi Kings franchise.

"The Kings will be the new franchise for me. Hopefully, I will have a good season for the side," Nawaz stated.

Despite the apparent pressure of being labeled a "match winner" by Babar Azam in T20 World Cup 2022, Nawaz remains unfazed, focusing instead on working on his skills to contribute effectively to his team's success.

"I do not feel any pressure on being labelled as a match winner. However, I am working on my skills,'' he concluded.
