The 29-year-old was part of the Kings from 2018 to 2020 but was at the bench for the most part across seasons
Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan took a dig towards his former HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings after they defeated the latter by seven wickets in the opening match of season seven.
The 29-year-old was part of the Kings from 2018 to 2020 but was at the bench for the most part across seasons.
In 2020, he was quite disheartened at the backend of HBL PSL 2020 over the lack of opportunities given to him by the franchise as he was unable to express himself in Pakistan's biggest domestic tournament.
But Multan Sultans picked him last year in the silver category and also appointed him captain. He opened the innings for Sultan, scoring 500 runs in 13 games and also leading them to the first-ever HBL PSL title win.
In the HBL PSL 7 opening match where Sultans defeated Kings by seven wickets, Rizwan remained unbeaten on 47-ball 52 and chased down the total of 125 in 18.3 overs.
After the match, Rizwan took an interesting jibe towards the Kings and thanked Sultans for providing him all the freedom in leading the franchise.
"For three years, I was someone who was on the sidelines of PSL, deemed not good enough to play. But when the right time came, I was not only picked by Multan Sultans but also made skipper and we became PSL champions," Rizwan said.
