Due to security reasons, Pakistan may end up playing the majority of their games in Chennai and Bengaluru
The Ahmedabad-based Narendra Modi Stadium is currently the top contender for hosting the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match in the ICC 2023 World Cup, which is set to take place in October-November, reported The Indian Express.
This match is significant as it marks the first time the two rival nations will face off on Indian soil since 2016.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen to hold the high-intensity game at the Ahmedabad stadium in anticipation of a significant number of international fans travelling to India for the event. The Narendra Modi Stadium, which can seat up to 100,000 spectators, is the largest stadium in the country.
After the conclusion of the ongoing Indian Premier League, the BCCI is set to reveal the schedule for the World Cup through a grand launch event.
The report further said that for security reasons, Pakistan may end up playing the majority of their games in Chennai and Bengaluru. The iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata is also being considered as a potential venue to host Pakistan matches.
