The Men in Green will lock horns against Australia on October 20th, set to take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru
Pakistan all-rounder, Mohammad Nawaz, admitted the team's struggle with securing wickets during the middle overs of their ICC World Cup 2023 matches.
In a recent interview with a local media news channel, Nawaz stressed an ongoing problem Pakistan bowling is facing in ODIs.
“I admit that the team is not performing in the middle overs. This has been going on for the last six to seven games. We are doing our best to remove this weakness," Nawaz said.
“Yes, on flat wickets, we will be able to score runs but we have to take wickets in the middle overs. We are able to bat in the middle overs, but are failing to take wickets,” he added.
Highlighting the urgency of rectifying this problem, the 29-year-old acknowledged Australia's remarkable comeback and stressed the team's commitment to regaining confidence and winning their upcoming game against them.
He emphasized the significance of a victory against Australia, underlining its potential to propel Pakistan towards the semi-finals.
“The loss against India is in the past, we are focused on our next game against Australia,” he said.
“Australia made a great comeback and we are aware of that. We will do our best to win the game and get our confidence back. A win against Australia is important as we can ease our way to the semi-final,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that the Men in Green currently holds the fourth position in the 2023 World Cup points table, securing two victories and experiencing a loss in their last game against India.
Their next fixture in the tournament is scheduled against Australia on October 20th, set to take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
