Zaka Ashraf recently stepped down from his role as the Chairman of the PCB management committee, anticipating substantial changes within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) this week. Although Shah Khawar, the Election Commissioner, has not yet assumed the position of the acting Chairman, it is anticipated per the constitution. The Election Commissioner is set to oversee the Board's affairs until the establishment of a new management committee.

While Zaka Ashraf has tendered his resignation, official approval is pending from the Prime Minister's House. The expected reception of this notification on Monday is poised to determine the subsequent course of action. The nature of Zaka Ashraf's resignation remains unclear – whether it pertains solely to the Management Committee or if he has also departed from the Governing Board. If he has relinquished both roles, the Prime Minister will need to nominate a new member for the Governing Board.

A source further revealed that time is running out for the management committee, facing disbandment by February 4th, potentially leading to the formation of a new committee. However, the Lahore High Court's decision on December 15th stipulates that the Election Commissioner should appoint the Board of Governors, raising the possibility that a new committee may not be necessary. A clearer picture of the situation is expected to emerge on Monday.
