Quetta Gladiators’ owner, Nadeem Omar, has called for the inclusion of wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed in Pakistan’s playing XI for the upcoming limited-overs series against South Africa.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Nadeem said Pakistan should take a leaf out of England’s book and play two wicketkeeper-batsmen in the playing XI.

“Sarfaraz has proved [in PSL 6] that the Pakistan team still needs him. Two wicketkeepers can play in a team. England have also played three or four wicketkeepers in their playing XI in the recent past,” said Omar.

“[Mohammad] Rizwan is playing very well and he has improved his power-hitting. Sarfaraz and Rizwan were the two players, who performed really well in the first half of the group stages of PSL 6. So I hope that both these players feature in the playing XI for Pakistan,” he added.

The aforementioned wicketkeeping duo is part of the 22-member Pakistan squad that left for South Africa tour on Friday.

On the South Africa tour, Pakistan will play three ICC ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League matches from 2-7 April and four T20Is from 10-16 April. The side will then depart for Harare, Zimbabwe, for three T20Is and two Tests, before returning home on 12 May.
