The Pakistan Foreign Office has called upon Indian authorities to guarantee the safety of the Pakistani cricket team during the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized in a statement that it is the responsibility of the Indian government to provide a secure environment for the Men in Green during their stay in the neighboring nation.

This appeal from the Foreign Office comes in the wake of reports in Indian media on Wednesday, indicating threats from terrorists to target matches in Ahmedabad. This has raised concerns about the safety of players and spectators. In response, significant security measures have been implemented in and around Ahmedabad Stadium. Over 3,000 police personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety of attendees.

Pakistan is set to begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad. They will take on Sri Lanka at the same venue on October 10, before travelling to Ahmedabad, where they will face off against their arch-rivals, India on October 14.
