Following New Zealand's decisive 5-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on Thursday, not only are the Kiwis near securing a spot in the World Cup semi-finals against India, but it also dealt a severe blow to Pakistan's chances of qualification.

Pakistan now faces the daunting task of defeating England by around 287 runs or with 284 balls to spare if they hope to replace New Zealand in the semi-finals. Achieving this seems nearly impossible, making it a monumental challenge for Babar Azam's team.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan is also grappling with an uphill battle, needing to defeat South Africa by around 438 runs to keep any hope of qualification alive. Unfortunately, their dream of a first-ever semi-final appearance seems unlikely this time, especially after a heartbreaking defeat against Australia. Despite reducing Australia to 91/7 in their chase of 292, Glenn Maxwell's unbeaten 201, played with 'no footwork' due to cramps, shattered Afghanistan's hopes.

Earlier, ahead of Pakistan's must-win match against England, Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan engaged in some light-hearted training. He imitated Glenn Maxwell's famous 'no footwork' shots in the nets.

Post New Zealand’s win and Shadabs’ training session, Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq and Rahmanullah Gurbaz posted cryptic Instagram stories.

Naveen wrote, “Footwork No Footwork But. Program Abhy sahi se warh gaya”. Gurbaz reposted the story and wrote “Wargyaa”.

These Instagram stories irked Pakistani fans, who took to social media to express their displeasure and slam the two Afghanistan players.

Rahman Ullah Gurbaz & Naveen Ul Haq both mocking Pak's Cricket Team through their instagram story is very unprofessional.
Cricket is supposed to bring people & nations together but such acts will create distances specially when these things are coming from international players👎 pic.twitter.com/Ue0Csl426f
