Former England Test captain Joe Root believes Pakistan is a very dangerous side with some fantastic players.

Root's comments come as Pakistan and England prepare to face off in the final of the T20 World Cup, which will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium (MCG) on Sunday.

Pakistan had thrashed New Zealand by seven wickets, with half-centuries from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the order. Pakistan was asked to chase down 153, and their bowlers delivered an outstanding performance at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

However, the major boost came when the Netherlands shocked South Africa, propelling them to the semi-final stage. Pakistan will be relieved that their skipper and top batter, Babar Azam, has returned to form after a disastrous start in the T20 World Cup.

"They have got some brilliant match-winners within their team; some brilliant bowling outfit, and some very talented batters," said Root while speaking to Sky Sports.

"Lot spoken about the two lads at the top [Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan], and how consistent they have been in this format for an extended period.

"There are some wonderful players in there, so you know they are a very dangerous team, and you gotta make sure that you are right on top of your game when it comes to the big final."

On the other hand, England crushed India by ten wickets at the Adelaide Oval to advance to the final of the mega-event. England's opening batsmen, Alex Hales and Jos Buttler ripped apart Indian bowlers all over the field to chase down 169 in just 16 overs.

Alex Hales scored 86 runs, including seven massive sixes, and Jos Buttler hit three in an enthralling batting performance.

According to Root, England peaked at the right time, with a complete performance against India in the semi-finals. "Incredible performance. They [England] peaked at the right time. I think you have seen the best of the team until now," he said.

"What a performance from the two up the order [Jos Buttler and Alex Hales] and great work from the bowlers to restrict India to the target [169].

"As a team performance, you can't ask for any more in a semi-final to stand up to the pressures of it in a game of that magnitude and perform like that is exceptional."
