The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to host its most competitive player auction yet as more than 500 cricketers from 24 cricket-playing nations have shown interest in participating in the 2024 edition. 

The auction dates have not been announced yet. This event will attract top-tier talent from all ICC full member nations, competing for positions in one of the league’s five teams.

Some of the prominent overseas players listed for the auction are Tamim Iqbal, Tim Southee, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Jimmy Neesham, Mushfiqur Rahim, Reeza Hendricks, Rilee Rossouw, Shai Hope, Taskin Ahmed, Lungi Ngidi, Naseem Shah, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Colin Munro, Ish Sodhi, Mark Chapman, Jason Behrendorff, Andre Fletcher, Oshane Thomas, Keemo Paul, and Fabian Allen.

Additionally, Usman Khawaja, Tabraiz Shamsi, Evin Lewis, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Reece Topley, Iftikhar Ahmad, Mohammad Nawaz, Gulbadin Naib, and Ibrahim Zadran are also featured among the top players.

The 2024 LPL, which is scheduled to begin on July 01 and conclude with the final on July 21, will take place across three venues in Sri Lanka: Colombo, Dambulla, and Kandy. 

The tournament will happen at the same time as Major League Cricket and the T20 Blast. Major League Cricket's second season begins on July 4 and may end around July 28. The T20 Blast will be held from May 30 to September 14.
