Pakistan will meet Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup U19 semifinal whereas India will go head-to-head against Bangladesh on December 30.
The semifinalists were confirmed following Asian Cricket Council's meeting, which was organised to deliberate over the match cancellation between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh due to two officials testing positive for Covid-19.
“It is confirmed that two officials have tested positive for Covid-19. The officials are currently safe and being treated in accordance with tournament protocols. All personnel associated with this match are undergoing testing protocols and isolating until results returned,” the Asian Cricket Council said in a statement.
The abandonment meant that Bangladesh improved their run rate, which meant they would finish top of their group and face India who finished second.
It is worth pointing out that Pakistan U19 have delivered strong performances throughout the tournament, winning all three matches they played against India, Afghanistan, and UAE.
The Boys in Green will now face Sri Lanka on December 30 to book a spot in the final of the tournament, which will be played the following day.
