According to Najam Sethi, PCB’s management committee chairman, the national team will play in the 2023 World Cup under Babar Azam's captaincy.

He stated that Babar's performance as captain during Pakistan's home ODI series against New Zealand was satisfactory and that his position as captain would only be reviewed after the World Cup.

Sethi also mentioned that there was no immediate threat to Babar's captaincy. He advised Babar to relax and focus on his performance, as the pressure of leading the team could be challenging.

"We will play World Cup under Babar Azam. We will see and review after that. Babar did satisfactory captaincy against New Zealand. There will be a review process every time and there is no danger to his captaincy till then. I called Babar and asked him to relax," Sethi told Sports Hour.

Misbah-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan cricket captain and head coach, also expressed his confidence in current captain Babar, stating that he has the potential to break all the records in the game.

“Babar Azam can break all the records as a captain and as a cricketer,” Misbah told The National.
