PAKvENG: Azhar Ali receives guard of honour in his final Test

Azhar Ali was given a guard of honour by his teammates as he went off the field for the final time during the ongoing third Test against England in Karachi.

In his final Test innings, the veteran batter was bowled for a duck after being cleaned up by spinner Jack Leach.

As Azhar returned to the pavilion, the England players, including captain Ben Stokes, applauded him on the field.

With 7,142 runs in 97 matches, Azhar was one of Pakistan's most productive hitters.

After Younis Khan (10,099), Javed Miandad (8,832), Inzamam-ul-Haq (8,821), and Mohammad Yousuf, the right-handed batsman is Pakistan's fifth-leading run scorer in Tests (7,530).

From 2016 to 2020, the 37-year-old also captained Pakistan in nine Tests during two consecutive tenures.

Azhar, 37, is the first Pakistan batter to have scored a triple-century in a pink-ball Test; he accomplished this achievement in 2016 against the West Indies in Dubai. This undefeated 302 is his greatest Test score to date.

Reminder for all is that England leads the three-match Test series 2-0 are now eyeing to whitewash the series.
