Speaking in a presser during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final, Naqvi confirmed that he had a conversation with BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the ICC meetings in Dubai
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Mohsin Naqvi, has asserted that despite ongoing speculation surrounding India's participation in the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy, he remains firm in his stance that the tournament will not be moved out of Pakistan.
Speaking in a presser during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final, Naqvi confirmed that he had a conversation with BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the ICC meetings in Dubai, but refrained from disclosing specifics.
"Yes we spoke for a while and it was cordial but it would be unwise to divulge details of what was discussed," Naqvi said.
When questioned about the potential relocation of the Champions Trophy due to India's reluctance to visit Pakistan, Naqvi dismissed such concerns.
"I am not even thinking on those lines we are confident we will host the Champions Trophy on schedule in Pakistan," he further added.
Naqvi emphasized that PCB is fully prepared to handle any challenges as the Champions Trophy approaches, highlighting plans for renovation at stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi to enhance the fan experience.
"Even as I speak plans have been drawn up and work will begin soon on these three stadiums to give the fans the best experience of watching the matches at the venues," Naqvi said.
It is worth noting that last time India visited Pakistan was during the Asia Cup held in June-July 2008. Furthermore, Asia Cup scheduled to take place in Pakistan last year was altered to include only four matches in Pakistan and the remainder in Sri Lanka due to India's decision not to travel.
