PCB keen to pacify angry PSL franchise owners

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a notice to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after a case was filed by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises regarding the tournament’s financial model.

LHC has ordered the PCB to submit its response by Wednesday, September 30, and has also barred the PCB from taking financial guarantees from franchises for PSL 6.

Franchises were promised that when the league will come back to Pakistan, they will earn massive profits. However, the franchises are still suffering losses. Hence, the franchises are demanding a change in the tournament’s financial model and have approached the court after the PCB failed to address their grievances.

Both parties are currently preparing their case for the hearing. PCB is also trying to pacify the angry owners through backdoor channels but to no avail. PSL Project Executive Shoaib Naveed has contacted each franchise separately and has tried to arrange a meeting with them between 7 to 10 October.

According to sources, few influential authorities are trying to settle the case outside court. However, franchise owners believe that if the board had addressed their concerns before, they wouldn’t have approached the court. Now they want the court to decide the matter.

All franchises were united in pursuing the case against PCB. In order to settle things outside court, all franchises will have to arrive at a decision collectively.
