Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reached an out-of-court settlement with Khaleef Technologies despite terminating their contract last year.

According to details, the PCB had entered into three-year agreement with Khaleef Technologies Incorporated in 2019 in relation to Wireless Mobile Telephony & SMS Rights, digital clip rights, Fantasy League Platform and App Development rights for the Pakistan Super League.

However, following severe breaches, including non-payment of the rights fee and non-submission of the requisite payment securities despite several assurances, the PCB terminated the contract, whilst adding that it reserves the right to avail all further legal remedies available to it against Khaleef Technologies Incorporated, including but not limited to seeking compensation for losses and recovery of unpaid amounts under the agreement.

At that time, a website by the name of ‘Cricingif’, owned by Khaleef Techonologies, used to show the highlights of PSL matches on digital platforms. According to media reports during that time, Khaleef Technologies had gone bankrupt. But surprisingly, the aforementioned rights for this year’s PSL were again given to Khaleef Technologies, who used their own website and mobile app by the name of ‘Cricwick’ to display the highlights of PSL matches.

It is interesting to note that ‘Cricingif’ website is not that active these days but it is regularly used for the promotion of ‘Cricwick’. This raises that question that how did PCB reached an agreement with the same company that they were threatening to sue last year? Shouldn’t Khaleef Technologies be blacklisted? Has PCB recovered the outstanding payments?

PCB’s Director Media Samiul Hasan Burney, when contacted regarding the matter, said: “The matter was resolved out of the court through a series of discussions and dialogues with Khaleef Technologies.”
