The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted its initial schedule for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to the International Cricket Council (ICC), proposing all matches, including those involving India, be held in Pakistan.

The ninth edition of the cricket tournament is set to take place in February and March 2025, with the eight top-ranked One Day International (ODI) men's national teams competing.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed in a press conference that the board has submitted the schedule for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to the ICC, with all matches set to take place in Pakistan.

We want the complete Champions Trophy in Pakistan. We have already submitted the schedule to the ICC. The ICC security team came to Pakistan and they were very happy with the arrangements," Naqvi said.

ICC security team recently visited the country and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements in place, including the facilities and security measures at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

However, the participation of the Indian cricket team in the tournament remains uncertain due to the strained political relations between India and Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would require government approval for the team to travel to Pakistan, and given the current situation, such approval may not be forthcoming.

Sources within the BCCI have suggested that a hybrid model for the tournament, which could involve hosting some matches outside of Pakistan, is under consideration. There is also speculation about the possibility of a change in venue if India is unable to participate under the proposed schedule.

Despite these challenges, the PCB is hopeful that the Champions Trophy will take place entirely in Pakistan. The board's dedication to ensuring a successful event is evident in its comprehensive preparations, which have been met with approval from the ICC delegation.
