Mohsin Naqvi's elevation to Minister of Interior has stretched his commitments, highlighting the need for a capable officer within the PCB capable of making crucial decisions
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi obtained the services of three officers from the Punjab government on a two-year deputation for the PCB when he became chairman.
Two of them have handled different responsibilities successfully, but Lieutenant (R) Sohail Ashraf has faced delays in his release due to disagreements among influential figures. However, now the situation is thawing.
According to sources, Lieutenant (R) Sohail Ashraf of the Pakistan Administrative Service could soon be released from the Punjab government.
However, his transition into the PCB might be complex due to ongoing talks about potentially assigning him leadership responsibilities at the Capital Development Authority Islamabad.
Initially, there were discussions about appointing Sohail Ashraf as the Chief Operating Officer of the PCB, replacing Salman Naseer, who would then take on a different role. Alternatively, if the constitution were to undergo amendments, Ashraf might even step into the CEO position. A decision on this matter is expected in the coming days.
Mohsin Naqvi's recent elevation to Minister of Interior has stretched his commitments, highlighting the need for a capable officer within the PCB capable of making crucial decisions.
Despite Naqvi's hints at organizational changes upon assuming office, only a few senior officers appointed by the former management committee chair, Zaka Ashraf, have been replaced thus far.
Nonetheless, sources added that further restructuring across various departments will occur in due course.
