The cancellation severely impacts Sri Lanka’s chances of advancing to the second round of the T20 World Cup
Sri Lanka's critical match against Nepal was abandoned on Tuesday in Florida due to adverse weather conditions.
Tournament officials called off the game after heavy rain and flood warnings hit Lauderhill, Florida, which was supposed to host its first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Despite growing optimism for a shortened game, persistent rain thwarted the efforts of the ground staff at Central Broward Regional Park to prepare the pitch.
The cancellation severely impacts Sri Lanka’s chances of advancing to the second round of the T20 World Cup and also complicates Nepal's path in Group D. Both teams remain winless in the tournament so far.
Nepal's focus shifts to their must-win game against South Africa, who have already secured their spot in the next round. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will face the Netherlands in their final group match on June 17.
