Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has picked legendary left-arm pacer Wasim Akram as one of the best fast-bowlers, and speedster Shoaib Akhtar as the quickest bowler he ever faced.

While replying to a question on Twitter, Ponting shared the names of the bowlers that caused him the most trouble during his playing days.

“Wasim Akram and Curtly Ambrose were easily the best fast bowlers I’ve ever faced. Shoaib Akhtar clearly the quickest but Harbhajan Singh got me out more than anybody,” wrote Ponting.

Ponting enjoys a stellar record in his 16 Test matches against Pakistan. The former Aussie captain scored 1537 runs against the Men in Green at an impressive average of 66.82, which included five centuries and six fifties.

During Pakistan’s recent tour to Australia, Ponting did not mince words while expressing his disappointment over Men in Green’s bowling attack, terming it the worse he had seen on Australia’s shores.

“They (Pakistan’s bowlers) have been poor. Their bowling attack is terrible really for a Test attack,” Ponting told cricket.com.au. “I’m not sure I have seen a worse bowling attack on our shores in a long time.”
