The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the owners of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have conditionally agreed to conduct the playoff stage and final of PSL Season 10 in England.

Sources indicate that the PSL franchises have requested assurances from the PCB regarding compensation for any potential financial losses incurred from staging matches overseas. The PCB has acknowledged these concerns and is working on a compensation framework to mitigate any risks.

During a recent virtual meeting, discussions were also held about including Peshawar and Quetta as potential venues for Season 10. This move is part of a broader strategy to diversify the locations of PSL matches and bring top-tier cricket to more cities in Pakistan. Additionally, the scheduling for HBL PSL 2025 was on the agenda, aiming to finalize the tournament window.

Moreover, the PCB has made a strategic offer to assist franchise owners in securing marquee players for multiple years.

HBL PSL 2025 will be the last edition to feature six teams, as the PCB plans to expand the league to eight teams in 2026. The PCB believes that aligning the HBL PSL and the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the same April/May window will create synergies that benefit the sport, players, and fans alike.

An additional proposal discussed between the PCB and franchise owners is to allow each franchise the option to directly sign one player, alongside the marquee player support offered by the PCB.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the potential inclusion of Peshawar and Quetta as venues for the HBL PSL, contingent on a conducive and supportive environment in these cities. The PCB aims to reintegrate these cities into the national cricket calendar by awarding them domestic matches in the 2024-25 season, fostering local talent and expanding the game's reach.
