Shan Masood, the captain of the Karachi Kings, is aiming for a better performance with the bat in the Karachi-leg of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Masood conveyed his eagerness to play in the city and his optimism for an improved batting performance.

Masood has scored a total of 52 runs in three innings so far this season. While acknowledging that he has been getting starts, Masood admitted to not capitalizing on them effectively.

"All the players of the team have given some performance but I am not satisfied with my personal performance.

"I am not getting a good start, and that's why I have not been able to advance in batting, I have not been able to perform well in the matches despite being set at the wicket when my performance would come, it will be more beneficial for the team," he added.

Masood also emphasized the crucial role of players like Kieron Pollard, highlighting their significant impact on the team's overall performance. Masood expressed the need for collective team effort, citing Pollard's exceptional contributions as an example.

"The team has not given performance collectively too as we witnessed standout individual efforts in the matches we won.

"We need performance the way Pollard has given. In the matches to be held in Karachi, we will prepare the action plan in the meeting against the rival teams," he added.

The skipper also called for improved performances from all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz, expressing expectations aligned with his abilities.

"Nawaz's performance has not been according to his abilities, we are expecting more from him as an all-rounder, Arafat Minhas is a good player and we will select him wherever he is needed," Shan added.

It's worth noting that the Karachi Kings have played three matches so far. They suffered a defeat against Multan Sultans by 55 runs but secured victories in the following matches against Peshawar Zalmi by seven wickets and Lahore Qalandars by two wickets.

Looking ahead, the 15th match of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United on Wednesday in Karachi.
