The franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are not interested in the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) proposal of bringing the auction model from season eight.

According to details, PCB intends to bring an IPL-style auction procedure as this will help attract big names; however, PSL franchises are not happy with the plan.

Meanwhile, the issue will be discussed at the General Council meeting on Friday. The meeting is taking place after almost a year as the last meeting was held on 27th September 2021.

The next meeting was not called despite repeated reminders from the franchisees, due to which many important matters remained pending.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has also returned home after spending two months in England.

PSL franchises are afraid that they will have to pay more to the existing players instead of the stars. Every team has such cricketers who have now established their identity.

The auction model can also risk losing local players and , overpaying foreign players could also anger them. All the franchises may come together to oppose this model.

Conversely, the agenda of the code of conduct will also be part of the meeting. In the past few days, the statements of some former cricketers associated with the franchises were highly offensive to the board officials, and there was talk of banning the official on one of the statements.

On this, the higher authorities were told that it does not come under the jurisdiction of the PCB; at the same time, it was decided to prepare a strict code of conduct under which it will be possible to take action against the franchise officials.

However, the teams do not agree; they have already made it clear how Wasim Akram, Inzamam-ul-Haq or any other former star regards to what they can publicly state or not. A code of conduct is already in place which should be maintained. The franchises feel that agreeing to it would be like digging their own grave.

The meeting will also discuss the PSL 8 schedule and draft dates, UAE and South Africa T20 leagues. PSL's accounts and commercial rights bid committee will also be updated. All franchise Owners, Chairman, CEO, COO, CFO, Director Commercial, Secretary Board of Governors PCB, Senior GMPSL, GM and Secretary GC, will attend the meeting.
