Defending champions Quetta Gladiators have accused Peshawar Zalmi of possibly tampering with the ball during the match between the two teams on Saturday at National Stadium in Karachi.

While talking to media after Gladiators’ five-wicket win over Karachi Kings on Sunday, the Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed admitted that their franchise have reported the aforementioned matter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

''As far as ball tampering is concerned, we have followed the protocols of PCB and submitted our report on the matter,'' Sarfaraz said.

On the other hand, Gladiators’ media manager Nabeel Hashmi have said that they suspected Peshawar Zalmi bowlers of tampering with the ball during the game and have forwarded their reservations to the board. However, the Gladiators have not lodged an official complaint.

During the aforementioned match, Peshawar Zalmi’s fast-bowler Wahab Riaz had also gotten into a heated altercations with Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and opening batsman Jason Roy.

Riaz blew a kiss to Roy at the end of the Quetta Gladiators innings. Sarfaraz came forward in the defence of his teammate. Riaz then proceeded towards the Quetta Gladiators skipper with intent after the latter advanced towards him.

Quetta Gladiators mentor Sir Vivian Richards stepped in between the players and diffused the situation by stopping Sarfaraz. Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy came forward to stop Riaz from their side.
