Rashid Latif names his all-time Pakistan Test XI

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif has named his country’s all-time Test XI, through his official account on social media website Twitter.

Rashid Latif played 166 One-day Internationals (ODIs) and 37 Test matches for Pakistan between 1992 and 2003 as a wicketkeeper right-handed batsman. He also served as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team in 2003, leading the country in six Tests and 25 ODI matches.

In his all-time Test XI, Latif named legendary opener Hanif Mohammad, who holds the record for playing the longest innings in Test match history, alongside left-hander Saeed Anwar as the opening pair. Hanif will also serve as the team’s wicketkeeper in the lineup.  

Batting greats Inzamamul Haq and Javed Miandad were slotted in at number three and four position, respectively. Meanwhile Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in Test matches, Younis Khan, occupies the fifth position in Latif’s XI. Mohammad Yousaf, who achieved the feat of most runs in a calendar year in Test matches in 2006, was picked to play at the number six position.

Legendary all-rounder Imran Khan, who is also the country’s current prime minister, was placed at the number seven slot.

Latif included the pace bowling trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar to form a potent bowling attack. Leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed was included as the team’s only frontline spinner to complete the XI.

Latif also named leg-spinner Yasir Shah as the team’s 12^th man.
