Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif, in a Youtube video on Saturday, named his best XI for the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five which was heavily dominated by the Karachi Kings franchise.

The 51-year-old retained both openers of the Karachi Kings franchise in his best XI.

“I would start with Karachi Kings and take both openers from their side [Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan]. I was considering opener Fakhar Zaman as well but I would give the edge to Sharjeel. It might be a bit biased on my part,” Latif said.

Latif picked a solid middle-order while adding the surprise element in the form of batsman Khushdil Shah, whose young age ushered him into contention for the best XI.

“I would play batsman Chris Lynn at number three. He made an outstanding hundred. I would play the hard-hitting Haider Ali at number four. Ben Dunk played a great hand in the PSL and I would definitely add him in at number five. I would take Khushdil Shah in at number six. He is young and I would give him a chance,” he said.

The former wicketkeeper included both leg-spinner Shadab Khan and all-rounder Imad Wasim into the side.

“Shadab Khan, who had a great outing with both bat and ball, slots in at number seven. Imad Wasim comes in at number eight,” he said.

Latif then formed a fearsome pace attack while naming Karachi Kings opener Babar Azam as the leader of his best XI.

“Pacers Chris Jordan and Shaheen Shah come in at number nine and ten respectively. I would play fast-bowler Mohammad Hasnain in the side because he was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. The captain of this line-up would be Babar Azam,” he concluded.
