Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan achieved a significant milestone career during the second T20I against New Zealand on Saturday in Rawalpindi.

In his 79th T20I inning, Rizwan became the fastest batter to amass 3000 T20I runs, surpassing the previous joint record held by Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, both of whom reached the milestone in 81 innings.

Achieving this feat has also made Rizwan the second Pakistani, after Babar, to reach 3,000 runs in T20I cricket.

Rizwan played an unbeaten 45-run knock from 34 balls while leading Pakistan's chase of a 91-run target set by the Black Caps.

The wicketkeeper-batter, who led Multan Sultans to PSL 9 final, is the leading contender for Pakistan’s vice-captaincy role in the shortest format. An official announcement regarding his appointment is expected to be made soon.
