India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma has etched his name in the record books for being the third-highest six hitter in the ODI format and is inching closer to surpassing Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi's record.

In the overall list of most sixes in ODIs, Rohit stands third with 330 sixes in 264 matches. Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi tops the list with 351 sixes from 398 games, and Chris Gayle is at the second spot with 331 sixes from 301 matches.

The opening batter also holds the record for the most sixes by an Indian in ODIs, surpassing notable names like Mahendra Singh Dhoni (229 sixes from 297 matches) and Sachin Tendulkar (195 sixes from 463 games).

His explosive innings of 64 runs off 44 balls in the second ODI against Sri Lanka featured four towering sixes and five elegant fours. Although the team lost, his performance was a highlight of the match.

This innings elevated his career total of sixes as an opener to an impressive 302 from 177 matches, making him only the second opener in ODI history to surpass 300 sixes. He is second only to the legendary Chris Gayle, who has hit 328 sixes in 280 games.
