Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, opened up about facing arch-rivals, Pakistan, in the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup, starting from August 30.

Sharma acknowledged the inherent challenges of facing Pakistan, highlighting the difficulties in both securing a victory against them and engaging in the matches themselves.

Speaking to Star Sports, he emphasized the substantial efforts required from his team to navigate these encounters.

“When you play against Pakistan, it’s always challenging, to beat them, and to play against them, we have to do a whole lot,” Sharma said.

The highly anticipated showdown between India and Pakistan is slated for September 2nd in Kandy. The tournament's commencement will witness Pakistan commencing their campaign against Nepal in the opening match, set to take place in Multan.

The tournament, which will be played in fifty-overs format, has six teams divided into two groups of three teams each.

Pakistan, India and Nepal are in Group A while Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are in Group B. The tournament will follow a hybrid model with Pakistan hosting four matches across two venues and Sri Lanka hosting the remaining games.
