Surprisingly, he does not anticipate Pakistan making it to the semi-finals, despite their rankings
Former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, has shared his predictions for the semi-finalists in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.
Surprisingly, he does not anticipate Pakistan making it to the semi-finals, despite their rankings.
During the event's commencement, where Tendulkar ceremoniously brought the World Cup trophy onto the pitch, he made his semi-final predictions. Drawing from his vast cricketing experience, he foresees India replicating their historic 2011 performance on home soil.
“I hope so, because our team is playing good cricket, and if the team continues to keep things simple and stick to basics, they have the ammunition," Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar also placed his bets on Australia, emphasizing their well-rounded and skillful team. He believes they have a good shot at making it to the semi-finals.
"So is the case with Australia, I feel they have a balanced team," he further added.
Furthermore, Tendulkar identified England as a team that can be a strong contender for a semi-final spot.
“The third one I would say would be England. England again are a very strong team, a combination of experience and some new faces," he said.
Lastly, Tendulkar predicted New Zealand as the fourth semi-finalist.
“My fourth team would be New Zealand. They have played the finals in 2015 and 2019. If you look at their track record, New Zealand in world championships have always done well and I see them getting to the semis," he concluded.
