Saim Ayub achieved a historic feat in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final of the 2023/24 season by becoming the first cricketer to score both a century and a double-century in the prestigious tournament's final.
Karachi Whites emerged on top on the third day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24 final scoring 238-5 in their second innings while Faisalabad failed to make much of an impact with just 124 in their first innings, losing their remaining six batters during the early hours of the day.
21-year-old Saim Ayub scored 109 off 179 in the second innings, emerging as the inning’s only centurion scoring 12 boundaries and one six.
Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq both recorded half-centuries with Shan making a rapid 51 off just 26 deliveries before losing his wicket as a result of a run-out while Asad Shafiq went on to play towards the end of the day with 60 not out off 140 deliveries.
Omair Bin Yousuf failed to make any runs off 21 balls and was caught by wicket-keeper Ali Shan off the bowling of Mohammad Ali. The baton soon passed over to skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed who recorded one run off six balls before the end of the day.
Earlier, Faisalabad batters Muhammad Irfan Khan and Ali Shan had picked up from yesterday’s innings making 32 off 33 and nine off 11, respectively.
Ali Asfand scored a meagre five off nine deliveries before losing his wicket to Shahnawaz Dahani while Khurram Shahzad made three off eight before being caught by Omair Bin Yousuf off the bowling of Mir Hamza.
Karachi Whites left-arm pacer Mir Hamza registered his 29th first-class five-wicket haul while right-arm fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani took his career-best figures of 4-50.
