Sajid shared insights on his approach to captaincy
Pakistan’s seasoned spinner Sajid Khan has revealed his admiration for former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, calling him his "inspiration" due to his "cool, calm, and successful" leadership. In a recent television interview, Sajid shared insights on his approach to captaincy, reflecting on Dhoni’s iconic leadership traits.
During the interview, Sajid was asked about his own experience as a captain. The 31-year-old mentioned that he has captained at various levels, including Under-13, club, and first-class sides. When questioned about his inspiration, he praised Dhoni, stating, “The best captain is MS Dhoni. He is a very cool, calm, and successful captain.”
Addressing whether his own captaincy style is aggressive, Sajid downplayed the significance of individual style, emphasizing instead that "the strategy of the captain matters more than being a captain or not." Known for his thoughtful and steady presence, Sajid seems to embody the qualities he admires in Dhoni.
Sajid, who made his debut in 2021, has had a sporadic journey in the Pakistan national team. However, he made a strong comeback last month by taking 19 wickets across two Test matches, steering Pakistan to a series victory over a visiting England side. The win was a satisfying payback after England’s 3-0 series sweep in Pakistan two years ago.
