India secured their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 final after a commanding 68-run victory over England in the semi-final at Guyana's Providence Stadium. This win sets up a highly anticipated clash against South Africa, who also booked their spot in the final by defeating Afghanistan by nine wickets in the first semi-final held in Tarouba.

The final showdown between India and South Africa, both unbeaten in the tournament so far, will take place at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.

In the semi-final against England, India faced an early setback when Virat Kohli was dismissed for just nine runs by Reece Topley. Rishabh Pant followed soon after, leaving India at 40-2 in 5.2 overs. However, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav steadied the innings with a crucial 73-run partnership. Sharma scored a well-crafted half-century before falling to Adil Rashid for 57 runs.

Yadav continued to anchor India's innings but narrowly missed his half-century by three runs, departing for 47 runs off 38 balls to Jofra Archer. Despite losing quick wickets towards the end, Ravindra Jadeja's quickfire 17 off 9 balls and Axar Patel's 10 off 6 balls propelled India to a competitive total of 171 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, England started promisingly with 26 runs in the first three overs without losing a wicket. However, Axar Patel's dismissal of Jos Buttler on the first ball of the fourth over triggered a collapse. England failed to recover as Jasprit Bumrah and India's spinners dominated, with Patel and Kuldeep Yadav both claiming three wickets each, while Bumrah took two. England was bowled out for 103 runs in 16.4 overs, unable to handle India's bowling prowess.

India's victory was underscored by their effective spin bowling and disciplined fielding, ensuring England's defeat despite an initial promising start. Now, all eyes turn to the final clash between India and South Africa, promising an exhilarating conclusion to the T20 World Cup 2024.
