According to sources, there was a lengthy discussion between the selection committee and Babar at the National Cricket Academy last night regarding the potential players, where the exchange of ideas was made.
In this meeting, initial talks were also held regarding the possible players for the World Cup along with the series against New Zealand. As per the recommendations of Asia Cup and World Cup, it was agreed not to experiment further in the One Day team.
After consultation with the captain, the selection committee will also seek the opinion of team director and consultant Mickey Arthur.
The 28-eayr-old was rested by the selection committee in the recent three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, but he will be back in action for this series.
According to the captain's opinion, the selection committee is preparing such a combination that includes both young and senior players. Fast bowler Abbas Afridi, who had the most wickets in the previous series and in the PSL, can also be given a chance.
The selected players for the series against New Zealand will report for the camp in Lahore on April 7th.
