In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Eliminator clash between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, the National Stadium witnessed an unsettling moment as fans directed taunts towards Imad Wasim. The chants of 'Babar Babar' reverberated through the stadium, marking a stark display of discontent towards the seasoned all-rounder.

The incident drew attention after a video of the crowd's chanting went viral on social media platforms. The chants were aimed at Imad, with implicit references to his previous criticism of former Pakistan captain, Babar Azam.

Reacting to the situation, United's captain, Shadab Khan, expressed his sympathy towards his fellow cricketer. Shadab emphasized that Imad's contributions to Pakistani cricket shouldn't be overlooked.

"I haven't had such a conversation with Maddy bhai, but if such a thing were to happen to me, obviously it would be saddening because playing for Pakistan for such a long time, performing for Pakistan, and then our crowd doing such things, obviously as a player you feel like, 'I've played for this country, I've won matches for this country, and the people of our country treat us like this,' so it does feel a bit." Shadab said.

It is worth noting that Imad's pivotal role in United's win against Zalmi showcased his prowess on the field. Partnering with Haider Ali, Imad orchestrated a record-breaking seventh-wicket partnership that propelled United to the tournament final. His unbeaten knock of 59 runs off 40 balls, studded with nine boundaries, underscored his skill and determination.
