Shah Khawar, former attorney general, has been named the Chief Election Commissioner of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), according to a notification issued by the Inter-Provincial Liaison Ministry.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar approved the appointment, entrusting Khawar with the responsibility of overseeing the organization of PCB elections within the next three months. Khawar's tenure will culminate on February 4, 2024, which serves as the deadline for the election of the PCB chairman.

"Shah Khawar Board of Governors will hold elections on completion. The deadline for the election of the chairman is February 4, 2024," the notification said.

It must be noted that the federal government recently approved a three-month extension for Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the PCB's Management Committee.
