Pakistan Cricket Board's Election Commissioner, Shah Khawar has been appointed as the interim PCB chief on Wednesday.

Khawar has taken charge and arrived at the PCB headquarters in Lahore, where he was welcomed by PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, directors, and other staff. They presented him with flowers.  Khawar will also receive briefings on important matters from officials today.

Moreover, Khawar will fulfill the responsibilities of the interim chairman until the PCB elections. The current nominee for PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi, will presently work as a member of the governing board. The announcement of the formation of the Board of Governors will be made soon.

Mr Shah Khawar: “I would like to thank the Patron of the PCB, Mr Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, for reposing trust in me. My primary responsibility will be to hold the election of Chairman PCB in a free and transparent manner at the earliest"

According to sources, Khawar will now oversee the PCB elections. Naqvi will contest for the position of chairman and is set to serve as the new chairman for a term of three years if elected. The elections are expected to take place within a month.
