Lahore Qalandars captain, Shaheen Afridi, is surprised by Mohammad Amir’s recent statement regarding Pakistan captain, Babar Azam.

While speaking to a local channel recently, Amir had made the statement which angered Azam’s fans.

"My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same," Amir said.

However, Shaheen believes that Pakistan players need to respect Babar, as he is one of the best batsmen in the world.

"He [Amir] said that about Babar? That is surprising. If you go to any place and if Babar is playing against any team, they will refer to Babar Azam as ‘King’. So I think this is not the right way to address Babar," Shaheen said on a local TV channel.

"Babar Azam is number one player and we respect him since he is our captain. If we won’t respect him as captain, who else will?" he questioned.
