Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has shared his thoughts on India's new head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir's appointment follows Rahul Dravid's decision not to extend his tenure.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah officially announced Gambhir's new role on Tuesday.

Afridi, currently participating in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) in Birmingham, England, commented on Gambhir's new role during the tournament.

He described it as a significant opportunity for Gambhir, noting that its success depends on how Gambhir capitalizes on it.

Afridi also praised Gambhir's positivity and straightforwardness, stating, "It's a new opportunity and a big one. It depends on how he avails such an opportunity. Sometimes, I listen to his interviews. He talks positively and is straightforward."

At 42, Gambhir becomes India's youngest head coach and will now mentor the next generation of Indian cricketers.
